FLEX / Fukushima S.T.E.P.S. Program

TPC is proud to support the nuclear industry's post Fukushima safety strategy by providing electrical cable and connectors for portable emergency power equipment at both the Phoenix and Memphis Response Centers that opened in the spring of 2014. In the event of a catastrophic episode, the portable equipment can be quickly deployed to any of the 100 nuclear reactors in the U.S. to restore electrical power to the cooling units. This is in addition to on site deployable safety equipment that already exists at these locations.

FLEX is a safety strategy enacted by the U.S. Nuclear Energy Industry after the 2011 Fukushima incident in Japan to address, in part, loss of electrical power needed to maintain effective cooling.

Emergency power is a critical component of an emergency preparedness plan. At TPC Wire & Cable Corp. we offer a custom solution to immediate power that is turnkey and can be easily deployed by most employees. S.T.E.P.S,. which stands for Super-Trex® Emergency Power Solutions, is a process we design based on the specific needs of your facility. You can choose the cable, connector and storage and deployment options, and our experts will collaborate with you on developing a plan for your FLEX / Fukushima strategy.

TPC can design a “plug and play” / quick connect system for power, control or data cables that can be quickly deployed by maintenance and non-maintenance personnel alike. Customer test results prove a Super-Trex® cable assembly can last up to 8 times longer than ordinary cable in the same application.
