Our weld lead and power lead cables are subject to extreme conditions. They lie in oils, solvents, soaps, and are subject to being run over by forklifts and other machinery. Previous to TPC, we changed out cable two to three times per year on each of our eight welding machines. Some of our machines have been equipped with TPC cable for three full years!

Case Study: Protein Processing Facility Finds Chemical-Resistant Cable Solution

flexing-case-study-2446-1

CUSTOMER PROBLEM:

A customer who operates a protein processing facility kept having issues with the cable they were using to power their side puller machine. Typically, it would fail once a month because of all the flexing required up and down the rails as well as the harsh chemicals and water that was used in the cleaning process.

TPC SOLUTION:

We suggested they try TPC Wire & Cable Corp.’s Super-Trex® Reduced Diameter Control Cable for the flexible specially compounded TPE jacket. Not only does the jacket resist most chemicals, but it’s also flame and heat resistant. This shielded control cable is available in 20 AWG, 16 AWG, 18 AWG, and 12 AWG.

CUSTOMER RESULT:

At the writing of this report, the customer had TPC's chemical resistant cable in the application for 30 months! Although the initial cable cost was almost double, withstanding the application environment for 30 months has saved the company $5,374.50 in material and labor costs. They’ve increased production by 116 hours.
