We needed a better cable in critical areas of our control system so TPC showed us their Super-Trex® and Trex-Onics® products but TPC challenged us to try anything to cause a failure. We decided to try the most abusive thing we could think of — run the cable over with a 60,000 lb track rig. When the initial test didn’t cause a failure, we performed a 0 degree turn, pivoting directly on the cable. The only damage to the cable was the abraded outer casing. Since this experiment 3 years ago, we have been using Super-Trex® and Trex-Onics® for our mission-critical cable assemblies, without a failure.

flexing-case-study-2513-1

CUSTOMER PROBLEM:

A customer was replacing the ordinary cable they were using every two weeks on a torch machine application. The cable was failing due to the extremely hot environment.

TPC SOLUTION:

Our TPC sales representative recommended that they try our Chem-Gard™ 200 product. It was designed specifically for high heat applications with a fluoropolymer jacket that can withstand temperatures up to 200ºC (392ºF).

CUSTOMER’S RESULT:

Our customer updates us yearly that this product is still in the application. We’re working on almost 5 years now. At this time, it has saved our customer almost $20,000 in material and labor costs and increased production hours by 1,365!
