Updated State-of-the-Art Product Performance Testing Lab

Amphenol TPC Wire & Cable (ATPC) is excited to announce the opening of its newly expanded and renovated in-house Product Performance Testing Lab. The revamped facility is intended to maintain the quality and dependability of our wire and cable products while testing materials for developing new designs for our high-performance solutions. The testing lab has been integrated into a newly expanded modern area, positioning all testing equipment close to our product designers, engineers, and commercial team.

This state-of-the-art lab will enable ATPC to gather essential baseline test data and develop a more established system and protocols that are more visible and transparent to customers. The lab also supports innovation by allowing ATPC to test prototypes and experimental cables, refine designs, and select the best materials for specific applications.

The lab's rigorous testing will help identify products best suited for specific applications and ensure products meet and exceed industry standards and regulations. This proactive approach translates to reliable and exceptional performance for customers. By evaluating products under real-world conditions, ATPC can identify and address potential issues before they reach customers. The data gathered allows ATPC to recommend the best cable for each specific application, ensuring optimal performance in even the harshest environments. The commitment to thorough testing and engineering excellence translates directly into superior product performance and customer satisfaction. 

Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, the lab features: 

  • FTIR Spectrometer: Analyzes the molecular structure and specific compounds in cables. 
  • 3D Printing: Enables rapid prototyping for custom solutions. 
  • Automated Flex Test Equipment: Simulates various types of flexing, including Chain-Track, Tick-Tock, Torsional, and Rolling S-Bend, while monitoring physical condition and electrical continuity. 
  • Abrasion Tester: Measures cable endurance against abrasive forces, critical for mining, welding, and other rugged applications. 
  • C-Track Tester: Tests resilience under continuous bending, as seen in Chain-Track applications. 
  • Rolling S-Bend Tester: Evaluates performance under multidirectional bending, simulating stress in reeling applications. 
  • Tick-Tock Tester: Assesses cable strength against dynamic flexing, which is crucial for automation and robotics. 
  • Torsional Tester: Verifies resistance to twisting forces, ensuring cable integrity in automated and robotic systems. 

Looking ahead, ATPC plans to expand the lab’s capabilities by bringing environmental testing in-house, including chambers for simulating high and low temperatures and weathering conditions like salt fog and UV radiation.
